EPA Information
The waterway data in the EPA’s online databases are populated with the information they receive from the NCDEQ. Unfortunately, the information on Jamestown’s waterways – Deep River, Bull Run, Copper Branch, Richland Creek and Long Branch is outdated. So don’t use this information for anything other than as a lightweight mapping tool.
Search the Environmental Protection Agency’s national Enforcement and Compliance History for some facility permits and discharge overages, pollution sources, and EPA enforcement cases. It’s difficult to navigate, though, and not up to date. Start here, enter your zip code, then ZOOM IN to your neighborhood: https://echo.epa.gov
For old information (pre-2012) on streams and waterways in Jamestown and Guilford County: Go to the EPA’s “How’s My Waterway” database: https://www.epa.gov/waterdata/hows-my-waterway
