The 2021 annual groundwater monitoring report for Univar (formerly Chemcentral) analyzes the quantity and type of chemicals the facility is leaching into the groundwater at its location on Main Street at Oakdale Road in Jamestown. From the report:
The following VOCs were detected at concentrations above the NC 2B Standards during at least one of the two sampling events: Benzene 1,2-Dichloropropane (1,2-DCP), Chlorobenzene (CB), Ethylbenzene, 1,2-Dichlorobenzene (1,2-DCB), Naphthalene 1,4-Dichlorobenzene (1,4-DCB), PCE 1,1-Dichloroethane (1,1-DCA) TCE, cis-1,2-DCE, VC, Toluene.
The highest concentrations for most analytes screened in saprolite were reported in samples collected from three areas. These include the western part of the Site between MW-3 and MW-9 (MW is “monitoring well”); the eastern part of the Site near the railroad spur and AST farm; and in well VE-1 located in the warehouse in the southeast corner of the Site. At this time, two bedrock wells exist at the Site (RW-8 and VE-3). VOCs were detected above the NC 2B Standards in both of these wells. The extent to which VOCs are present in this deeper zone is currently unknown.
