Several days ago, a 917-page contamination assessment report for the 17-acre Brownfield site (and proposed site for a cement/concrete trucking and rail facility) at McKay Road and Gate City Blvd was completed. The site is the former Fortress Wood Products site addressed at 1 Metals Drive, Greensboro, but it is in the Jamestown zoning jurisdiction and ETJ.
A link to the complete report is at the bottom of this post, but here’s a site map and key summary pages discussing the extensive soil, groundwater, surface water and vapor contamination on the property:

Summary:

as

CONTAMINATION RESULTS: Soil, Groundwater, Surface Water (tributary to BULL RUN)

Surrounding uses & receptors (water wells, groundwater)

LAB RESULTS: PFAS in Groundwater in ng/L (which equals parts per trillion PPT)

LAB RESULTS: PFAS in Soil in mg/kg (one mg/kg = 1,000,000 PPT)

LAB RESULTS: PFAS in Surface Water in ng/L (one ng/L = one part per trillion PPT)

LAB RESULTS: PFAS in Sediment in mg/kg (one mg/kg = 1,000,000 PPT)

LAB RESULTS: soil VAPOR

Lab Results: VOCs in Groundwater

Lab Results: VOCs, Metals in Soil

Lab Results: VOCs, Metals in Sediment

TCLP Soil Analysis
Soil is tested for the “RCRA 8” heavy metals. If the leachable concentration (measured in milligrams per liter of leachate, or (mg/L)) exceeds these thresholds, the soil must be treated or disposed of in a hazardous waste (Subtitle C) landfill
